Job Brief:

The Property Accountant is responsible for performing general ledger and reporting functions for designated real estate properties. Also responsible for specific additional tasks and special projects as directed by the Vice President, Controller.

Job Responsibilities:

1) Prepare and enter general ledger journal entries.

2) Maintain appropriate documentation of all journal entries made.

3) Prepare and analyze monthly account reconciliations, including proposing any necessary adjustments.

4) Reconcile bank accounts and make any necessary journal entries.

5) Compare actual costs with property budget and explain and investigate significant variances.

6) Prepare monthly reporting packages for review by Assistant Controller..

7) Coordinate preparation of schedules for yearend audits. Prepare yearend financial statements pursuant to both GAAP and IFRS.

8) Input and update budget data as required.

9) Assist with the development and updating of accounting and reporting procedures,

as well as, internal control policies and procedures.

10) Understand the properties’ on-site accounting procedures and activity to understand the revenue interface into the general ledger and to address questions raised by on-site personnel.

11) Perform specific tasks, either one time or recurring, as requested.

12) Become involved in and perform special projects as requested.

Education and Prior Work Experience:

Bachelor degree in accounting preferred, with three years related experience. Personal computer skills including Excel, Word, and Quicken. Knowledge of computerized accounting and software systems is required, Yardi a plus.

Physical Environment/Working Conditions:

Modular office setting. Approximately 90% of this individual’s time will be spent on a personal computer.

Position requires extensive use of personal computers, telephone and the following software applications:

* Yardi Accounting Software

* Excel

* Word

* Outlook

Special Requirements:

Position requires strong analytical skills and strong telephone and email communication skills with a customer service attitude. Should have ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, effectively communicate and enjoy involvement in special projects. Must enjoy working with detail and working in a team environment and have a “can do – how can I help” attitude.

Experience:

  • GAAP: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CPA (Preferred)

$61,624.00-$64,635.00
